The Phair: Photo Art Fair, Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Turin

21 - 24 May 2026
Overview
We are delighted to announce our participation in THE PHAIR 2026 in Turin, a very distinctive fair dedicated to contemporary photography and image based art.
For our presentation at THE PHAIR 2026, we focus on artistic positions that explore photography beyond classical documentation. Although visually very different, all presented works share a strong cinematic quality and a highly individual approach to light, atmosphere and staging.

At the center of our presentation are selected works from Anton Corbijn’s iconic “Licht” series, created primarily during the 1990s and presented for the first time in Italy in this form. Using only a flashlight as his light source, Corbijn created portraits suspended between movement and disappearance. Grain, blur and shadow become active emotional elements within the image itself. The series demonstrates Corbijn’s extraordinary ability to transform technical reduction into atmosphere and psychological presence.
In dialogue with Corbijn, we present works by Kristian Schuller, whose photographs move between haute couture, fantasy and theater. Schuller creates elaborate visual worlds filled with color, movement and sculptural light. His works combine the precision of fashion photography with references to painting and cinema, resulting in images that feel both timeless and dreamlike. For the first time, we will also present one of Schuller’s light installations, which naturally extends and reinforces the overarching theme of light within the booth.
A third central position is the collaboration between Michelangelo di Battista and Jake Chapman & Dinos Chapman, two of the most prominent members of the legendary Young British Artists movement. Their series “Mystery in the Moonlight”, featuring Claudia Schiffer as protagonist, references the visual language of classic Hollywood cinema and 1950s B movies. Through hand painted backdrops, theatrical lighting and deliberately artificial staging, the works create a world oscillating between glamour, fiction and psychological tension.

Press release
We are delighted to announce our participation in THE PHAIR 2026 in Turin, a very distinctive fair dedicated to contemporary photography and image based art.

Over the past years, THE PHAIR has established itself as an important platform for collectors, curators and institutions, bringing together photography, video and contemporary visual experimentation within a highly curated exhibition format. Hosted at the remarkable OGR Torino, the fair has become an integral part of Turin’s growing position as a center for contemporary image culture.

We are particularly proud to have been part of the fair’s international board for several years, contributing not only to its ongoing dialogue and development, but also to its public and talk program together with outstanding international institutions, curators and artists.

Founded by Paola Rampini and Roberto Casiraghi, who also co founded Artissima, THE PHAIR reflects Turin’s exceptional cultural ecosystem, shaped by institutions such as Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Fondazione Merz.

For our presentation at THE PHAIR 2026, we focus on artistic positions that explore photography beyond classical documentation. Although visually very different, all presented works share a strong cinematic quality and a highly individual approach to light, atmosphere and staging.

Through hand painted backdrops, theatrical lighting and deliberately artificial staging, the works create a world oscillating between glamour, fiction and psychological tension.
Rather than treating photography as documentation, all presented artists use the medium as a constructed visual language. The works move fluidly between photography, cinema, painting and performance, transforming the booth itself into a carefully staged visual experience.

We look forward to welcoming you in Turin.
