Overview

Anton Corbijn (born 1955 in Netherlands) is considered one of the most famous living photographers and has created numerous icons of contemporary photography. He is renowned for his black and white portraits of well-known creatives. Corbijn shoots with a slow shutter speed to capture gestures and movement in a unique style of photography capturing both imperfection and personality. His distinctive approach of creating black and white photos using grainy film became an important part of our visual culture.

Since the 1980s Anton Corbijn has cemented Depeche Mode's cutting-edge reputation as the world's biggest cult band. He is considered the visual heart of Depeche Mode and U2, responsible for record covers, stage settings, music videos and all photographs.

"Memento Mori" will be Depeche Mode's fifteenth studio album, and their first to be recorded and released as a duo following keyboardist Fletcher's passing at the age of 60 in May 2022. Once again Anton Corbijn is responsible for the visual realization, who has shaped the look of Depeche Mode like no other.

Anton Corbijn is not only a renowned photographer but also a well respected film director of movies like »Control« (2007), »The American« (2010), »A Most Wanted Man« (2014) and »Life« (2015).

The portrait of Philip Seymour Hoffman that was taken in New York in 2011, 3 years before the film „A most wanted Man", starring Seymour Hoffman, hit cinemas in 2014, the same year the actor passed away shortly after the film's release. The one-way street signs in Corbijn's picture get today almost a symbolic impact.

Corbijns artworks are represented in numerous renowned private, corporate and museum collections worldwide.
