Overview
Julio Rondo, born in Sotrondio, Spain, is known for his distinctive technique of applying acrylic and spray paint behind glass, a method he has refined over many years. This approach gives his abstract paintings an object-like quality, with broad brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette that seems to glow in natural light.
After moving to Germany in 1962, Rondo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Prof. KRH Sonderborg. He later became a professor at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart, a role he held from 1989 to 2020. His works are part of prestigious museum collections, including the German Bundestag and Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, as well as corporate collections such as Deutsche Bank and Allianz.
